01.25.08 -- ATTN: Board Users

We are aware of a problematic virus on the board. It will not install by itself. DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING, PLUGINS....NOTHING, FROM THE MESSAGE BOARD, IF PROMPTED. For you IE users, a bar will come up telling you that the board is trying to install a program. DON'T DO IT. We're not trying to get you to install anything. There's good news though, we're currently investigated what happened, how it happened, in hopes to keep it from happening again, and I have not been able to duplicate the same issues (or any issues at all) in Firefox or an up-to-date Internet Explorer. Run all updates (even in firefox, just to be safe. Even the ones that are optional. What happens is whatever is connecting to the board and trying to infect your computer (if you get the message) is finding some sort of flaw in IE and coming at you through that. Updating IE should patch that flaw. If you have ANY questions, please email me. I will get back at you as soon as I can. Thanks for your patience. -Justin Kirby Email: JustinKirby1@gmail.com

Urban Missionaries will be releasing Volume 2 of their mixtape series in the near future. The best part is IT'S FREE! For those of you that don't really know about Urban Missionaries, let me give you a little insight into what exactly they do. Here's their mission statement:

In a world plagued by moral relativism, subjective truth, and an anti-God mentality, Hip Hop has become the syringe by which these secular beliefs are injected into our society. The Urban Missionaries are a team of evangelists who know Christ as their Lord and Savior and offer His gift of salvation to the world through Hip Hop. Our mission is to effectively spread the gospel to the streets of our communities, its surrounding areas, and then the world by using a redeemed form of Hip Hop. We, as well as the artists associated with us, take pride in our faith and it's uncompromising role in pure, authentic music. As Griffin says, "The church stakes are high so we takin' it to the streets." Urban Missionaries is doing just that.

The U.M. team gives positive music to people that wouldn't otherwise hear it. The songs are offered online free for download. You are then free to distribute them, to your family and friends and what-not. The Urban Missionaries website has received hits the world over, including major hits from Germany and Japan. So, it's, by no means, a local thing. Urban Missionaries is a non-for-profit group that is simply in it to win it, to spread the Word of God through a positive Hip Hop medium.

The website will be up soon, but you can hit up their MySpace page and rock some hits right now. When the site officially launches, Vol. 1 and 2 will be up. So you will be able to download 50+ tracks of Urban Missionaries goodness that includes k-Drama, L.A. Symphony, Sev Statik, Viktory, Tunnel Rats, J.Clazzified...my goodness, the list goes on and on.

ADD THIS TO FAMILY DVD COLLECTION TODAY – A HOLIDAY MOVIE THAT WILL BRING JOY ALL YEAR ROUND .  Click to buy NOW!!!!

Happy Holidays everybody!!!

This is Braille Brizzy with the last newsletter update of the year.  I’ve been so excited and so busy lately. My friends and I flew out to North Carolina to perform on MixxMasters Lounge for www.steelroots.com TV.  I hosted a listening party at my house and played songs from my new album for about 15 people.  Ohmega Watts, Sojourn, DJ Idull and everyone in attendance agreed that this new album is my best work so far.  It feels great to finally be sharing songs with people. “The IV Edition” (my forth solo album) will be dropping in April of 2008.  We already got a good buzz started.  This week I’m a featured artist at myspace.  Check out my new page design and also listen to the second song leaked from the album “Counter Attack”  produced by OhNo – featuring Theory Hazit and DJ Idull.  www.myspace.com/braillebrizzy

In other news – my record label Hiphop IS Music is still going strong.  Our newest releases from Othello and Poems are both getting a great response.  I just got a small box of Poems vinyl singles imported from Japan with full color artwork featuring 3 tracks from the “Blooming Sounds” album.  (Be Free, Blooming Sounds, Way Back When – instrumentals included).  If your interested in a copy, just email me directly because the supply is so limited.

As the year closes – I just wanted to share a little bit of personal reflection.  This whole year has been a rollercoaster for me.  Nov. 12th 2006 my daughter was born and having her around has been such an incredible experience.  Last Christmas James Brown passed away and as many of you know I was touring with him during 2006 before that happened.  I started working on this new album right in the thick of those two moments.  The recording process was moving very slow because life as a new father was keeping me very busy.  Plus, it’s always a process of learning how to adjust your schedule when entering new seasons in life.  Starting on 2007 things were great for my record label.  The Surreal album “Future Classic” hit #1 on the CMJ charts and the Theory Hazit album “Extra Credit” created a major buzz all over the whole world.  Then in July of this year my father passed away unexpectedly.  That situation caused me to step away from my busy schedule and try to start focusing on completing my album.  My father always encouraged me to keep working hard at my music – in his honor I wanted to finish the best album I could possibly make.  Now here I am, at the end of the year with more releases coming out on the label and my album is finally sounding the way I always hoped it would.  I dedicate this record to my father, my daughter, to the memory of all those who passed away over the last year and to all those who are going to take time to listen.  I’ve also learned that no matter how busy I get… I need to always make time to help other people out.  That’s a big problem this day and age.  Everyone is so busy that we never stop and take a moment to help others out.  We got friends and family that need us.  Maybe they just need someone to talk to, someone to buy them lunch, someone to pray with them.  Or maybe we need to look past our own circle of people and look at what’s going on around the world.  There are people without clean water, people without proper medical care and so much going on.  There are many needs right in front of our face, and no matter how busy we get – we should always set aside time to help others.  That’s what the “IV” is all about.  Bringing solutions/medicine strait into the veins of our society.  Being a healing agent to the social illnesses that we are surrounded by.  Just as God has had great mercy over my life and has healed me of my internal illness – I want to reflect that same love unto other people.

I’m about to say PEACE but before I go, I also wanted to shout out Jedidiah Clothing.  They hooked me and my wife up with a nice box of FRESH gear for the holidays.  We’ve been looking fly around the house lately, haha.  And you know the baby girl is always looking cute as can be.  Check out Jedidiah at www.jedidiahusa.com

IF your in Portland, check out my show this Saturday (dec. 22nd) at the Doug Fir Lounge.  It’s going to be crazy.  Email me if you’d like to pick up advance tickets Friday night cause I’ll be running around the city doing promotions and ticket sales.  FOR EVERYONE else – I start touring to promote my new album in February of 2008.  If you’d like me to come perform in your city, let me know and I’ll get shows booked with the quickness.  Please keep my family and I in prayer as we get ready for 2008.  I know it’s going to be an exciting year, but no matter what type of stuff is going on with music – I know I need to keep God and my family FIRST.  Honestly.. .I couldn’t do what I do without them, so I never want to forsake them for the benefit of this music.

MUCH LOVE ya’ll.  Peace and GOD bless

Thank you, from Braille and the Hiphop Is Music team.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FLAME proclaims OUR WORLD REDEEMED
The OUR WORLD Series continues; the fourth album from FLAME will release

ATLANTA, December 4, 2007 -- The Cross Movement Records artist who blazed the Gospel Rap scene in 2004 with his self titled debut album, FLAME, joins with key hit-making Producers to birth his highly anticipated fourth album and sequel to Our World Fallen. Shedding light on the Genesis 3 story concerning the fall of man and how it relates and affects our society today in Our World Fallen, the Christian Rap artist will unveil the counterpart of the series, aptly titled Our World Redeemed.

The avidly awaited Holy Hip Hop album will serve as an instrument of hope, victory and deliverance when it hits shelves and online March 4 2008. Featuring 16 tracks of continuous hits, conceptual segues, appearances from newcomers and vets, Our World Redeemed arrives at a time where generations are plagued with doubt, fear and confusion. Even in the midst, the compelling goal of Our World Redeemed is to reinforce the dire need to accept Jesus Christ as the way, the truth and the life.

Known for his thought provoking verses, truly inspired in every sense by scripture, just as much as he is for his heavy Midwestern flair, the Christian lyricist and 2008 Holy Hip Hop Honoree also known as Marcus T Williams-Gray, is currently a Biblical Counseling student at Boyce College in Louisville. Born and raised in the inner city of St Louis, FLAME has ministered for more than 10 years in music and speaking engagements through various platforms. After releasing his debut album, he followed suit with Rewind, which earned him a Dove Award nod for the anthem ‘Gotta Notice.’ Gaining National radio and satellite airplay with tracks such as ‘Myspace,’ ‘Shinin’ and ‘Heart Stops’ from Our World Fallen, his gritty music video, ‘Goodness to Repentance is also in rotation on BET, BETGospel, Gospel Music Channel and many other music video outlets.

As March 4th nears, more information on FLAME and his new release, Our World Redeemed, will distribute through www.flame314.com, www.myspace.com/flame314  and www.crossmovementrecords.com.

08.23.07 -- NEW T-BONE RELEASE HOT OFF THE GRILL SEPTEMBER 25

Franklin, TN (June 21, 2007)—With a heart to “capture the best of the last six years for fans,” music legend T-Bone has taken the best of his last three albums—two of which were nominated for Grammy Awards—added some sought-after tracks, and mixed in a few new surprises to create the eighteen-track sonic feast, Bone-Appetit! Servin’ up tha Hits! (Flicker Records/ Provident-Integrity Distribution).

The first single, the new Christian artist-based song, “Name Droppin'” (feat. Eric Dawkins), shows the fun side of T-Bone’s lyrical brilliance, and the second single, the new Latin/Caribbean-flavored dance gem, “Sing Your Praises” (feat. Natalie LaRue and Mark Stuart of Audio Adrenaline), is featured in both English and Spanish on the album.

The carefully selected hits from the best of The Last Street Preacha (2000), Gospelalphamegafunkyboogiediscomusic (2002), and Bone-A-Fide (2005) include “A Few Good Men” (produced by Fredwreck, Dr. Dre’s right-hand man), “Can I Live,” and the club banger “Follow T.” An additional treat is the brand new remix version of Bone-A-Fide’s epically melodic “I Been Looking Around” (feat. Rachel Lampa).

T-Bone’s latest music video, for “Can I Live,” features Leila Ali, an undefeated world champion female boxer and the youngest daughter of sports legend Muhammad Ali, who is currently starring in the primetime ABC reality show, Dancing with the Stars. T-Bone also starred with Leila Ali in his second movie to date, All You’ve Got, which premiered on MTV in 2006. The movie featured a number of his songs including “Follow T.”

The sought-after tracks on Bone-Appetit! that are not available on any previous T-Bone release include the fan favorites, “Raised in Harlem” from Hero: The Rock Opera and “King Of My Life” (feat. Natalie LaRue). The exotic and experimental influences showcased on the album range from Latin, Arabic, and Indian, to Caribbean, and even Gypsy sounds.

This ninth release in the music pioneer’s fifteen-year recording career represents a rich journey of growth through the “struggles and triumphs, and good and bad times” of the last six years. One of the definite highlights of these years was T-Bone’s standout performances in the 2003 feature film and soundtrack The Fighting Temptations (w/ Beyonce and Cuba Gooding, Jr.).

If Bone-Appetit! Servin’ up tha Hits! is what T-Bone has to show for the last six years, fans should be excited about what is to come. “My plan for the future is to continue to use all the gifts and talents God has given me and do more movies, more music, and more books,” says T-Bone.

07.25.07 -- The Godkinz

SAN DIEGO GOSPEL MUSIC AWARD WINNERS, THE GODKINZ, TO RELEASE SELF-TITLED DEBUT ON SEPTEMBER 11

San Diego, CA (July 25, 2007)—The Godkinz, a talented group of three brothers of Samoan heritage, named after their apt family name, will be reflecting their faith and family on the September 11 release of their extraordinary self-titled urban worship debut. Estilo Records, in partnership with Syntax Records, will be releasing the album through Koch Entertainment.

Twins Ishmael and Isaac, and their younger brother Israel have made their mark nationally as well as locally, winning the prestigious San Diego Gospel Music Award Artist of the Year in 2006, and touring with The Katinas on both coasts this summer.

Their full blend of tight harmonies, infectious beats, and hook-rich songs is described as a mix of R&B and hip-hop with a sacred urban spin by drummer Isaac. Think Katinas meet Boyz 11 Men.

The album’s first up-tempo single, “Tilt ya Hat,” kicks the party off with all the energy of their concert performances, and the sizzle never stops, from the Reggaeton bounce and power lyrics of “Desire,” to the smooth R&B flava of “Call Me.”

The empowering lyrical message is balm to troubled and confused souls of any age, but especially cutting into the hearts of youth, exactly who the Godkinz brothers most hope to reach.

Keyboardist Ishmael says he and his brothers are living out a prayer of faith lifted up long ago. “Our parents were married for two years and trying desperately to conceive, when my father, a pastor of a Samoan church, promised the Lord, ‘if you give me children, I’ll give them back to you for Your glory. They will share about Your goodness to the world through music, to encourage and uplift all in Your Name.”

The blessing of family, a gift strongly revered and cherished in their Samoan heritage is reflected in the airy opening and glimmering guitars of “Many Words,” and Ishmael’s poignant album closer, “Grandma Song,” is a sincere piano-driven tribute to their Grandma, who the album is dedicated to.

10.11.06 -- Reach Records needs your help

Press release by Reach Records:

Its been awhile since an update has gone up, but trust us we have been hard at work with much thinking and planning going into the long term vision of Reach Records and ReachLife Ministries. We are currently working on developing curriculum for urban youth and leaders, as well as starting trips overseas to train pastors from other countries. In October, Lecrae will be leaving for East Asia and going underground to train church leaders there, and in December some of the Reach staff will be headed out to Honduras to train leaders, many who live in remote villages.

We need your help and support in order to get away to help train leaders from other countries. Most of the time several hundred leaders show up to take part in the training sessions that last around 6-8 hours a day. Then these leaders take what we teach to their congregations. By training the leaders the entire area or city is affected! We train them on how to make disciple makers. Many countries complain that there is much evangelism but no training, leaving a country full of spiritual babies. The need is great, please help us get to these places.

We need to raise $6000 dollars for the Honduras trip in December. While that may seem like a lot to ask from your "christian hip hop" crew, we have to depend on God to provide our needs through the body of Christ. And, for those that are unable to go out the country we want to give an opportunity to contribute to world impact. We are praying for people like you to give to ReachLife Ministries so that we will be enabled to go. We currently need 1600 dollars to reserve the plane tickets in early October. We will give a detailed report and video footage of the trip so you can see what your giving made possible.

Just think, if 16 people gave 100 dollars that would solve the immediate need and if 60 people gave 100 dollars that would cover the cost of the entire trip! Your giving will allow hundreds of leaders who do not have good resources and training like we do in America to gain the proper food they need to grow and train their people.

To give, please visit this link:

http://www.reachrecords.com/reachlife/home.php and donate!

To see what is happening in the world please watch this video and look at the need, listen to the lyrics. WARNING: Some of the images are graphic. It was created by a fan and we found it on youTube.

09.01.06 -- September is here!

KINGDOM MUSIC

Two-time Grammy, Juno, Dove and VIBE Award Nominated hip-hop artist and producer Rob "Fresh I.E." Wilson recently launched his own label, Kingdom Music. The label, which just inked a distribution deal with industry powerhouse EMI, boasts a vast array of hip-hop artists and producers from across North America, including Fresh I.E. (Manitoba, Canada), Kaboose (Minneapolis, MN), SupaMan (Crow Agency, MT), RationaL (Saskatchewan, Canada), Russill the Journalist (Saskatchewan, Canada), Tru-Serva (Lacombe, LA), Jah-Soul (Kingston, Jamaica), Emcee One (San Jose, CA), Lil' Disciples (Manitoba, Canada), DiJohn (Minneapolis, MN) and many, many more.

“We’re living in a time of indie labels rising up", stated Wilson. "The reason a lot of indie labels don’t survive is because a lot them are plagued with the same types of problems. A major issue in the music business has always been money and a lot of artists under indie labels aren’t getting paid what they are due. As owner and CEO, Kingdom Music will operate under the Kingdom principle of sewing and reaping. As a label we believe in supporting and backing our artists 100%, and that means making sure their getting paid. Too many rappers out there are talking about being broke; we believe, as a label, that financial situations will work themselves out as we seek first the Kingdom."

Wilson went on to state, "Kingdom Music will adhere to the highest industry standards in mixing, mastering and production. We’re not just a label but a family, a brotherhood and a body. We hold each other accountable. Our artists are doing this as a career and a calling, walking in faith. KM is represented all over the map right now, from Canada to Cali, and we are very excited at what the future holds.”

The first release from Kingdom Music will be Volume 1 of a compilation series, featuring the entire KM roster, entitled "Kingdom Building". Look for the compilation to hit stores late 2006/early 2007. Also, KM recording artist and Jamaican native Jah-Soul is set to release his debut solo album "A Long Time Coming". Look for the album to be in stores across North America this fall.

In related news, Fresh I.E. has just put the finishing touches on his third full-length album, "To Die Iz Gain".

"The album has been over a year in the making and is levels above any of my previous stuff. The concept of the album is basically about letting our flesh die and how we gotta submit to the Lord and die to ourselves before we can truly live. This entire record is for a world that is in desperate need of a Saviour."

The albums features guest appearances from the entire Kingdom Music camp including RationaL, SupaMan, Emcee One, Tru-Serva, DiJohn, Lil' Disciples and more!

"As far as the sound goes, it's a real gritty, kind of Southern-type vibe with that Northern touch, of course. Than there's cats like Rash (RationaL) and Supa (SupaMan) that bring a more East Coast, raw hip-hop type of flavor to the record as well."

Watch for "To Die Iz Gain", hitting stores in late September '06 and lookout for the Kingdom Music takeover in '07!!!

Tuesday May 31st 2005, Syntax Records will be dropping the long awaited freshman solo LP from one of the Pacific Northwests most gifted MC's. PSSHHH... COME ON NOW! April fools!

Music from The Procussions will be featured on this week's The Real World vs. Road Rules. If you're a avid fan of RW vs. RR, be sure to catch The Procussions playing the soundtrack to all of the drama, chaos, and mayhem on the show.

For those waiting for a new Lightheaded album, it is completely finished. All the recording and mixing is done. 14 brand new songs. The new album still has a track produced by Muneshine, but the majority of the production this time is handled by Ohmega Watts. Contributions are also made by Stro of The Procussions and Tony Stone. This leaves Lightheaded with only 3 “official” members (Braille, Ohmega Watts and Othello). Extended family includes DJ Bombay, DJ Manwell and Muneshine....... but the core is the northwest trio. With Muneshine living in Canada, going to college and having prior commitments, he has been unable to tour with the group. This was one of the primary reasons for making the decision.

Now that the new album is done, LH is preparing to hit the road on The Extreme Tour. In the meantime, LH are also shooting a music video for one of the lead singles for the new album. The video includes 3-D animation and is guaranteed to be entertaining.

Speaking of videos, Braille just finished a video off his solo album for the song “Shades of Grey”. Braille has been very busy as of late. If you’ve been to your local magazine shop, you might have noticed that he was featured as one of URB Magazine’s NEXT 100. You can see Braille on page 59 of the April issue. In order to express his thanks to all the fans, Braille has created a new solo project titled “Scatter Brain”. This project is fully produced by DJ Bombay, and with no features involved, Braille handles all the rhymes himself. The first 300 copies of "Scatter Brain" will be hand-made, numbered and autographed......including bonus material. Once these 300 sell out, you'll have to wait until the official pressing which isn't estimated to be available until July. No soundclips or cover images will be placed on-line until the shipping date for the limited copies, which is May 10th.
This will be the only solo LH album released this year. The "Scatter Brain" album will not be in stores, infact, Braille is going to spend most of this year pushing "Shades of Grey".

Last but not least, bookmark hiphopismusic.com, the label started by the LH crew.
